The nüvi 350 is a portable GPS navigator, travelers reference, and digital entertainment system,
all in one. Combining detailed maps, automatic routing, turn-by-turn
voice directions and finger-touchscreen control, nüvi makes it easy
to find your way anywhere. Also included is the unique text-to-speechfeature,
which literally calls out turns by street name.
In addition
to the navigational capabilities, the nüvi 350 has a built-in MP3 player, audio book player JPEG picture viewer, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, and calculator.
Additional audio and content support is provided for the optional
Garmin Travel Guide™ and Garmin Language Guide™ software.
The nüvi 350
comes preloaded with highly detailed City Navigator™ NT
maps - containing detailed road maps throughout the entire United
States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. This map database features nearly
six million points of interest, including hotels, restaurants, gas
stations, ATMs, and attractions. Maps for other parts of the world
can be easily added.
PG staff
recently took a nüvi 350 on a trip to England and it proved to be the perfect "travel gps", displaying roads and streets in and around London, playing mp3s and navigating to various attractions. It naturally had a bit of trouble picking up satellites in the London "tube" 100 ft below the street! At one point we were challenged by a "Back Roads Tours" driver to a navigation test - which ended in a 'draw' as the driver hilariously began to imitate the Australian "Karen" voice.
He tried to throw her off by turning down back lanes but she quickly
came back with the correct recalculated routes.
Language
Guide™ software (optional)
The Garmin Language Guide, with data provided by Oxford University Press, contains a multilingual word bank, phrase bank, and five bilingual dictionaries. Nine languages are supported: American English, British English, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, European Portuguese, European Spanish, and Latin American Spanish. You can look up and translate more than 17,000 words or 20,000 phrases per language. Through the unit's text-to-speech interface, users can get a spoken pronunciation of each entry in the word bank - along with gender and part of speech information.
Travel

The Garmin Travel Guide provides in-depth travel information
such as reviews and recommendations for restaurants, tourist attractions.
Traffic
The
nüvi
even provides traffic alerts (in select cities) with the addition of an optional
FM
TMC
traffic
receiver and traffic services*.
By adding traffic services and a receiver to your nüvi, you can avoid traffic
tie-ups by
simply pushing a button to calculate a new route.
The nüvi also
supports configurable
vehicle icons — fun,
customized car-shaped icons in a variety of colors that show your position
on the map.
*Traffic
services available only in select cities where RDS-TMC coverage
exists. Requires the GTM 10/12 FM TMC traffic receiver and subscription
fee to enable traffic capability. Canadian coverage now
available for Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal.
